NOT AGAIN! ASUU TO COMMENCE A WARNING STRIKE ON OCTOBER 2ND

 

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) said on Monday that it would commence a warning strike on October 2.

A statement signed by Ben Ugheoke, the Chairman, University of Abuja chapter of ASUU, stated that the Federal Government had failed to embark on meaningful dialogue with the union.

“We have tried to dialogue with the Federal Government but they have been playing games with us; we will start with a warning strike to show them we are not jokers.

ASUU has being trying to get the attention of the Federal Government to intervene in the academic system of universities across Nigeria but it has all been abortive.

Consequently, ASUU will give a warning strike which will start on October 2nd.

The strike will last for one week, and if they do not give us listening ears, we will start the indefinite strike in November,” Ugheoke said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that ASUU, had at a recent news briefing accused the Federal Government of reneging on the 2009 agreement with the union.

ASUU’s Coordinator, Abuja Zone, Dr. Theophilus Lagi, also said in the statement that the government had only implemented 30 per cent of the provisions of Universities Needs Assessment document.

He said that the fund was disbursed indiscriminately to university councils as a fall out of the six months industrial action the union embarked upon in 2009.

Lagi urged the Federal Government to fully implement the 2009 agreement it reached with the union in order to avert another industrial action by the nation’s public universities.

 Himself and fiancee Adrienne Bailon talked about how their journey from friends to soon-to-be married happened on a chat with People magazine.

Adrienne says

“When he got officially divorced and started dating again, I immediately started to set him up with my friends. He didn’t think they’d want to go out with him but I told him, ‘Don’t be silly. You have a great smile, you’re successful, you’re kind, super witty, funny and smart. Of course they’ll go out with you.’ After one of the dates, I asked my friend, ‘What do you think?’ And she was, like, ‘He’s just not my type’. I was so offended. I was like, ‘What do you mean he’s not your type? He’s got dimples! He’s got the best smile, brows of a god, his skin basically glows and he plays mad instruments. It doesn’t get any better than that!’ Her response was, ‘Why don’t you date him?!’ A while later, we were sitting in the corner together at a party and a friend of ours came up and said, ‘You guys have old love.'”

Israel adds “We both heard that, and it had impact on us. That was such a special choice of words, and I felt it was correct. I felt a connection to her that I still can’t define.”

According to Adrienne, “My friend told me, ‘You have to kiss him. You can just be friends, but you’ll know if it’s meant to be more the moment you kiss him,’ and now we’re getting married, so you can see how that kiss went.” 

Talking about the media storm they had to weather so early in their relationship, Israel says, “We were in Mexico and she got the call that the paparazzi had photos of us together. ROB KARDASHIAN AND BLAC CHYNA ARE EXPECTING A BABY GIRL

Reality TV star Rob Kardashian and his wife to be Blac Chyna have confirmed the sex of their baby they are having a baby girl.

They did this during last night’s premiere of Rob & Chyna when pregnant Chyna and Rob made a doctor’s appointment to find out the sex of their baby. Rob said he was pretty nervous and he wanted to have a boy but the doctor announced that they are having a girl.

Rob then said in a confessional that it was an emotional moment.  Wanting to have a boy stems from his dad but he is sure he'll have the same relationship that he had with his father with his daughter.

He expressed his happiness for the baby's health.

STORY: MY CHUBBY LIFE BY WINIFRED

 
I always wondered what it felt like to be fat. At some point in my life being fat was my ultimate goal. I still remember when I was five, I'll wear double clothings underneath my school uniform just to look like the other chubby kids in class, lol, but little did I know that my exposed tiny legs and arms told the world what a pretty little liar I was.  I had to stop padding when the bullies of the class took note and had the best time of their little lives making fun of me. But oh well, I was just a kid, I wasn't so desperate.

    Growing up, the love for chubby looks never really died. It got worse when camera phones became a thing to have, I couldn't stand seeing myself when I took pictures. I always felt like the thinnest girl in the world. Even my boyfriend then hoped I'd add some flesh some day. lol. It wasn't like it was so bad but everyone around me just effortlessly grew chubby. I tried different tricks in the book. I tried taking pills and portions but it never worked. My friends looked older than me and my juniors looked like my seniors so I had to make an extra effort to act mature. Infact I was going down the depression lane because people made fun of me for being so skinny, I became very sensitive and quiet defensive with endless cases of insecurity. The whole world watched their weight. I wanted to know what it felt like to watch my weight. The more I craved for that chubby look, the more my clothes remained my size. Mtchew!

   Years went by and I slowly outgrew the crave for chubby looks. The turn around started when chubby girls wanted to trim up. Chubby girls admired my flat tummy and they invested time and money to have what I almost lost. It was now the other way round. Chubby girls felt more attractive with the slimmer look. Lol.     I didn't even know how I was supposed to feel. I now began to wonder why I went through all that trouble to try and gain the weight most people are rejecting now.

      Lord knows what will be the next body size trend. But all I know is I'm a happy girl. Free from the shackles of body size depression. I'm not as skinny anymore and I'm far from chubby. My point is, thin, chubby, tall or short we are all beautiful the way we are. But if that beauty doesn't start from within us, the world won't see it too.

'SCANDAL' STAR KERRY WASHINGTON ASOMUGHA HIDES HER BABY BUMP WHILE FILMING

Kerry Washington had her baby bump on full display in the latest episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." But you would never know she's pregnant on her hit ABC show "Scandal."

Washington, who is currently shooting the show's next season, explained how she and the rest of the "Scandal" crew are managing to hide the fact that she is expecting her second child with her Nigerian husband Nnamdi Asomugha. The two are also parents to 2-year-old daughter Isabelle Amarachi.
"Big coats, big bags...hiding behind different body parts of other actors," the 39-year-old actress told DeGeneres.

Her bump isn't the only thing Washington is hiding. When DeGeneres asked her what the sex of the baby was, the usually private Washington said she was hoping for a human.
DeGeneres suggested to Washington that she name the baby "Ellen."

22 YEAR OLD GATE KEEPER STABS EMPLOYER TO DEATH. BLAMES IT ON EVIL SPIRIT

The 22-year-old gatekeeper, Tanko Abdulateef, who was arrested in Taraba State by officers of the Lagos State Police Command for killing his employer in the Lekki area of the state, has said that an evil spirit moved him to commit the crime, PUNCH reports.

He made this known on Thursday when he was paraded at the Command headquarters in Ikeja.

Abdulateef stabbed his boss, Mabel Okafor, 50, four times in the stomach at her apartment on Close 9, Victoria Garden City in the Lekki area.

The woman’s phones, some cash and other valuables was also carted away after her murder.

Abdulateef said he stabbed her with the scissors and the knife he had used to cut the flowers.

I was employed in August 2016; I had not yet stayed up to a month when the incident happened. She agreed to pay me N18,000 at the end of the month. On that Wednesday, she had asked me to cut the flowers. When I was done, I went inside my room. There were only three of us in the apartment.

She called me and I went inside the sitting room. I was with the knife and the scissors I had just used to cut the flowers. A spirit just came upon me and I stabbed her. She shouted my name and that was when I became conscious of what I had done.

She was bleeding profusely. I had stabbed her in her stomach four times. When I realised that I had killed my employer, I packed some of her valuables and ran to my village in Taraba State the following day. I sat down at the doorsteps all night. I could not enter my room.

Some of our neighbours, who were alerted by my boss’ noise, came around and asked what had happened. I lied to them that we saw a snake and she screamed. So they went back. I don’t know why I killed her. Something just came upon me.

Abdulateef said that he had sold the phones before he was arrested.

“I sold the three phones at N20,000 each in Taraba State because I needed money. I had not sold the clothes before I was arrested. My parents are dead, but I have two sisters. When I returned, I did not tell my family members anything. I didn’t kill her because of salary increment. We had both agreed on N18,000,” he said.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said that Abdulateef and another suspect would be prosecuted at the end of investigation.

“The phones, trinket and other valuables carted away have been recovered from the suspect. The scissors and the knife that he used were also recovered from him. There is another suspect and the two of them will be charged to court at the end of investigation,” he said.

TENSION IN NIGERIA AS EX-MILITANT'S FATHER (TOMPOLO'S FATHER) DIES AT 84

The father of an ex-Niger Delta militant leader has reportedly died following injuries sustained during incursions by the Nigerian military, potentially exacerbating tensions in the crisis-hit oil-producing region.


 

Tompolo’s father, Chief Thomas Ekpemupolo, 84, died at a hospital in Warri, a city in Nigeria’s southern Delta state, a spokesman for the ex-militant leader said Wednesday, Reuters reported. His death was the result of injuries incurred after the Nigerian military carried out operations in his community in May, according to the spokesman.

A civil society group representing the Ijaw ethnic group to which Tompolo belongs, the Ijaw Youth Council, said in a statement that Chief Ekpemupolo was the “victim of unlawful military invasion of people’s homes and communities of the Niger Delta region in the name of looking for militants,”
Tompolo’s group MEND has been negotiating with the government about bringing an end to the current crisis, and Tompolo himself has disavowed any links with the NDA or other groups who have been attacking the country’s oil infrastructure in 2016. The NDA recently declared that it had “halted hostilities” against the Nigerian government and oil companies and was willing to engage with the federal government in order to resolve the current crisis.

The Nigerian military has deployed troops and aircraft to the Niger Delta, however, in a bid to contain the situation and supposedly root out militants. The military said August 27 that it had killed five militants and arrested 23 as part of its mission, known as Operation Crocodile Smile. Four soldiers also drowned following a boat accident in the operation in the southern Bayelsa state Monday, the military said.
In a statement published Wednesday, the NDA offered its condolences for the death of the soldiers but said that the military operation would “undermine any genuine disposition from your government towards restoration of tranquility in the Niger Delta.”
Tompolo had previously written an open letter to Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari in July concerning his father’s injuries, saying that he had had one of his limbs amputated as a result. “Is this 84-year-old man also a member of the Niger Delta Avengers that they brutalized him to the point of death?” Tompolo wrote in the letter, according to Nigeria’s Premium Times.

COMEDIAN BASKET MOUTH CONFIRMS THAT HE WAS ROBBED

Some days ago Comedian Basketmouth and his family were robbed at their Lekki residence by armed men and he confirmed it this morning on instagram that they were indeed robbed and they also lost a lot of valuables during the incident but he thanks God and his friends for helping out

He shared on his Instagram page saying,

Yes I was robbed, yes they made away with a lot of valuables…….the great thing is that they didn’t steal my sense of humour. Myself, my wife and kids were not harmed, so we thank God. Big thanks to everyone that reached out, may God bless you abundantly.

PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI SPEAKS ON CHANGE. "CHANGE BEGINS WITH ME"

 

President Muhammadu Buhari, while delivering a speech at the inauguration of the national re-orientation campaign tagged, ‘Change Begins With Me’ in Abuja on Thursday, has called on Nigerians to change their attitude and behaviour if they want to see change in the larger society.

“Our citizens must realise that the change they want to see begins with them, and that personal and social reforms are not a theoretic exercise. If you have not seen the change in you, you cannot see it in others or even the larger society.

In other words, before you ask ‘Where is the change they promised us?’, you must first ask, ‘How far have I changed my ways? What have I done to be part of the change for the greater good of society?’

The campaign we are about to launch today is all about the need for us to see change, not merely in terms of our economic, social progress but in terms of our personal behaviour on how we conduct ourselves, engage our neighbours, friends and generally how we relate with the larger society in a positive and definitive way and manner that promotes our common good and common destiny, change at home, change in work place, change at traffic junction, change at traffic lights, etc,” he said.

The president decried that the level of lawlessness and degeneration in our national life has almost fizzled out honesty, hard work and godliness.

Buhari noted that students prefer to embrace cultism rather than face their studies because of eroded values, adding that it is for this same reason that pipelines are being vandalised in the country.

He called on Nigerians to shun corruption and other social vices.

President Buhari said the disintegration of social values encouraged impunity and corruption in the public sector which ultimately led to the current economic recession.

The event was attended by ministers, state governors, and members of the judiciary.

The following are excerpts of a sermon that, according to the Facebook Page, Christ Embassy.Org Online Missions, was preached by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, the Senior Pastor of Christ Embassy Ministries.

Topic: Who is a HUSBAND and what is His Role?

Husband does not mean the male partner in a marriage, husband means master.

The reason for most problems in Christian marriages is the fact that women refute God’s definition of marriage and form theirs. They believe they are equal partners.

If most women had their fathers bold enough to talk to them, they will be very successful in their marriage and they will be very happy people. Most women have never been taught by their parents, their fathers particularly and that’s their biggest problem because they don’t know who a man is, they think he is another woman.

In marriage, you have the man who is the head of that union and because he’s the head of that union, its important to understand him. You think he’s the one that needs to understand his wife and that is where you are wrong. He will eventually but you have to know the type of man you are married to and his needs.

When you say you are marrying a man, you are coming under his authority. The Bible says, the man is the head of the woman (1 Corinthians 11:3) so when you marry him you come under his authority, you are not authority sharers even though you are both heirs to the kingdom of God.

When you decide not to subject yourself to that authority, you are a rebel and God is not going to accept what you are doing because you are not functioning correctly. Why did God make the woman?

Making woman was not God’s original plan because after God created Adam and before He made Eve, He said in Genesis 1:31 ‘Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good’. God made woman because of man so woman was not His original idea. This is reality.

Genesis 2:18a ‘And the Lord God said “for it is not good for a man to be alone..’ The Bible didn’t say ‘lonely’ but ‘alone’. There is a big difference. Man wasn’t lonely but alone. Genesis 2:18b ‘…I will make him an help meet’. He didn’t say a partner or a supervisor or a special advisor or someone to tell him what to do.

I will make him someone to help him. God gave man a responsibility so woman was made to help man achieve that responsibility. If this is understood in every home then you won’t have problems.

I tell people that you don’t need a marriage seminar, you need the Word Seminar. Let me tell you, no husband wants another mother, he has had one all his life. He doesn’t want an older sister, he probably had one.

Your secret is in obedience, your secret is in listening to your husband, your secret is in doing the things that please him. When you don’t do the things that please him, you take the role of a mother or of an older sister.

A man loves the one he serves (God) and the one that serves him (a good wife). He fights the one that wants to be at the same level with him (a rebellious wife).

To be happy in your family and home is the easiest thing in the world, just take your role. Take your place. That place that God gave you is a beautiful place. Its a place of peace. Its a place of love. It’s a place of excellence.

Every wise person listens to wise voices (advice) but he listens to a wise voice that is presented wisely.

Everyone rebels against the voice that is trying to make a fool out of him. When you want to correct your husband, don’t lord it over him,present it as a wise suggestion. Humble yourself and be smart.

A wise woman will always be an influence to her husband, the foolish one will always annoy the husband, make him mad, make him angry and when you make him angry, you will be the victim. Learn to listen to your husband, practice it, tell yourself that you are going to do it because that is where your beauty is.

Once you stop listening, your beauty evaporates. You wonder why you are dressing and he can’t see it, he doesn’t remember your last hair style. Beauty is in obedience. That’s where the Glory is.

WHY DO THE KARDASHIANS HIDE THEIR NANNIES?

Watching Keeping Up with the Kardashians feels like a pretty comprehensive peek into the lives of its stars — as much as we know that reality shows are, by their nature, staged and artificial to some degree. 

But the Kardashians give us a look into their lives that is unprecedented in both its breadth and intimacy. We see the family doing nearly everything: eating, hanging out with friends, getting their makeup done, driving, doing photo shoots, fighting, crying, making up, taking vacations, going out, playing with their kids, reading gossip about themselves, talking smack behind each other's backs, developing their respective apps, makeup collections and clothing lines. But New York magazine writer Laura June points out in this excellent piece that a big part of the family's lives is conspicuously missing: their nannies.

Obviously, the Kardashians employ nannies — just like many other working mothers do. But they are virtually nonexistent on the show. The simplest and least sensational explanation for the absence of child care professionals on KUWTK is also the most simple: They don't want to be on camera. But we regularly see the Kardashians' staff on camera: We see their assistants, trainers, business associates, stylists, chefs, makeup artists, and bodyguards. And not only do we not see the nannies; they are never even talked about. "Even passing references would go a long way toward normalising the realities of everyday child care.

And that's the potential problem with the missing nannies on KUWTK: It feels like a deliberate decision to hide the reality that these busy, successful, strong, dynamic, hardworking women need help raising their kids. But when you're as famous as they are, everything you do sends a message — whether it's caught on camera or not.

CAITLYN JENNER STRUGGLING WITH HAIR LOSS. SHES GROWING BALD!

The transgender star has been struggling with hair loss since transitioning to a woman and has tried a number of remedies including some very obvious hair plugs and exposed ratty extensions. But the 66-year-old is desperate to avoid any more hair loss and resorting to a very wacky way to replenish her mane. 

 

Her pal revealed to OKMagazine.com exclusively that Cait is using ONIONS on her hair, which has become thin and brittle since she started styling it every day. “Caitlyn’s tried everything, but her latest trick is to mash up onions and use it on her hair.

BLOODY FIGHT OCCURS BETWEEN HAUSA AND FULANI COMMUNITIES IN LAGOS STATE

 

One person has been reportedly killed and several others injured following a bloody fight between Hausa and Fulani communities at the Abattoir, Oko-oba area of Agege, Lagos State.

Reports have stated that the crisis erupted when a young Hausa girl was beaten up by a Fulani man, over a yet-to-ascertained matter.

The report added that the girl went back home to report the incident to the Hausa community in the area. Angry Hausa youths rushed to the scene, and what started as an exchange of words, later turned into a bloody fight, leaving an Hausa man dead and several others injured.

The Lagos State Police Rapid Response Squad (RRS) confirmed the report on its Twitter page. It said:

“Efforts in progress to settle the dispute between feuding Hausa & Fulani youth at the Abattoir, Agege. 1 Hausa killed, scores sustained matchetes wounds as Hausa & Fulani youth engaged themselves in Abattoir, Agege.”

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos, Fatai Owoseni has called for a peace meeting between both parties to provide a lasting solution to the clash and prevent its recurrence.
