KOGI STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ARE ANGRY AS THEY SHUT DOWN LOKOJA!

Lokoja

Lokoja, the Kogi State capital was on Thursday shut down by the Students of Kogi State University, leaving many commuters on the expressway stranded. The students were protesting the prolonged closure of their school.

Kogi is a major transit point that links the northern and southern parts of Nigeria.
Lecturers of the university embarked on strike three months ago to protest the non-payment of their salaries.

Government officials said the debt was a backlog from the past administration of Idris Wada. An official said that out of five, they have paid four.
Chairman of the school’s academic staff Union, Daniel Aina had said recently that the strike will be sustained till the last kobo owed is paid.

The government and the School Academic Staff Union are yet to reach an arrangement and the students complain they are made to pay heavily for the disagreement.
